Understand the operation

Begin with the people, decisions and exceptions behind the requirement. Map the current workflow and identify where information changes hands. This gives design and engineering a shared basis for deciding what to build, what to integrate and what should remain in the existing system.

Make decisions reviewable

Keep scope, assumptions, dependencies and technical tradeoffs visible. Review working software against agreed acceptance criteria rather than relying on presentation alone. When priorities change, assess the impact on the release, data, integrations and operating responsibilities before proceeding.

Plan for ownership

A release needs people who can operate it. Discuss source access, documentation, environment ownership, training and support while the solution is taking shape. The goal is a system with understandable responsibilities and a practical route for maintenance and future change.
